Protesting in support of releasing qualified low-risk prisoners.

As many of us are privileged enough to be socially distancing ourselves during this public health crisis, 2899 prisoners still need to be released from Minnesota’s prisons in order to adhere to the same social distancing standards.

Today what started off as a mundane walk searching for birds turned into my being in exactly the right place at the right time. With my camera handy, I snapped some photos of the honk-in held by Twin Cities Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee in support of releasing qualified low-risk prisoners. Upon my return home, thanks to this awesome document they have put together (tinyurl.com/faqcovidrelease), I learned a lot more about the injustices many Minnesotan prisoners are currently facing and the ways that our legislators could do something about it.

Never forget that during trying times, systemic inequities are unfairly affecting those most oppressed in our society. #BlackLivesMatter #AbolishICE
