Antonia Alvarez, co-founder of Pueblos de Lucha y Esperanza (Peoples of Struggle and Hope), has been holding a daily fast and prayer event on behalf of detained immigrants who are at increased risk of coronavirus infection while in jail.

Alvarez was joined by other members of Pueblos de Lucha y Esperanza, along with members of the Twin Cities Incarcerated Workers Organizing Committee (IWOC), in front of the governor’s residence for a press conference on April 22, 2020. Incarcerated people are at high risk for catching COVID–19 as it is not possible to practice social distancing inside prisons or jails.
